We love having the opportunity to shine a light on some of the powerhouses that make Journelle the company it is today. Our in-house lingeristas sat down with our Co-CEO, Dr. Sapna Palep, to talk with her about her latest successes and also learn more about her road to girl-boss status!
What advice would you give to young women, like your daughters, today?
I always tell them to be your own person! Always enjoy what you are doing and be true to yourself. Be proud of your work, stay humble, and give everything you do your best effort.
What's a recent "girl power" moment you had?
My most recent “girl power” moment was my last trip to India to see my great-grandmother with my daughters. She is our matriarch and has been such an influence in my life. I felt proud to see how far we have come, which is a perfect example of how each female generation keeps striving for more with fewer boundaries.
At Journelle, we hear a lot of moving stories about women's experiences with their bodies - what has helped you with your own relationship with your body?
Accepting and appreciating that my 42-year-old body can no longer be my 22-year-old body. As a mother of two, there has to be a lot of acceptance and appreciation for how our body matures over time.
Lingerie is all about enhancing and expressing yourself - what do you think is the most important aspect of finding the perfect pieces for you?
I need a wardrobe that can keep up with my daily movement, treating patients and tending to my family. My day is busy and I’m moving around constantly so I need comfort, but still want to feel sexy, with a little confidence boost. My go-to everyday style is the Allegra Brief. The lace-edged front waist is made of stretch material and the full coverage bottom gives me all-day comfort. Not to mention, the sheer lace and bright color Tangerine make me feel confident and sexy!
You are a woman and also a Founder of your own dermatology practice and co-CEO of Journelle, what has helped you get to where you are today?
Staying focused but remembering to always have fun with whatever you are doing! Everyone needs to keep a balance between work, family, friends, and fun. I think that is the key to success!
